Safello represented the Swedish startup scene at Differentia 2015
A refreshing mix of entrepreneurs, thinkers and artists were gathered last night at TEDx Stockholm‘s event “Differentia 2015″. Motivated by curiosity and a good opportunity for networking with people from different backgrounds, I ran over to Mosebacke to see what the event had to offer.
The Swedish startup scene was represented by Frank Schuil, the Dutch entrepreneur at Safello, who of course spread the gospel of the crypto currency known as Bitcoin. But as the theme of the evening was diversity and thinking differently, he chose to address the Bitcoin movement from a somewhat unexpected angle.
Frank Shuil painted a picture of some of the staggering 50 million refugees in the world today could use Bitcoins as a means to carry savings over borders out of conflict zones and help them start their life elsewhere. Frank made the historic connection to the Raubgold of World War II, and explained how he thought that Bitcoins could prevent rogue governments and rebell groups to get their dirty hands on people’s belongings. Since Bitcoins often are associated with shady activities or tech nerds, it could be a smart move to put the spotlight on the wider global socio-economical opportunities that follows with Bitcoins and similar crypto currencies.
