Guess what? Food delivery service Middagsfrid is also for sale
Last week Swedish tech podcast Startupveckan (they’ve now changed their name to Breakits podcast) reported that Swedish e-commerce company Linas matkasse was for sale – aiming at a valuation close to 500 MSEK.
In this week’s episode Breakit reveals another piece of exciting news from the food delivery industry: Middagsfrid is for sale as well.
Founded by Kicki Theander in 2007 Middagsfrid was the first e-commerce company in Sweden to deliver groceries with recipes to your door. It’s also one of the main competitors of Linas matkasse.
According to Breakits podcast there’s a possibility that a private equity company will buy both companies in an attempt to create a Scandinavian giant. Another alternative is that Coop or Axfood will buy Middagsfrid, which is looking for a valuation around 100 MSEK.
In the episode podcasters Olle Aronsson och Stefan Lundell also talk about security startup Castle – which according to Breakit just got funding from business angels Erik Byrenius (Onlinepizza) and Henrik Torstensson (Lifesum). Castle has developed a technology that upgrades the login security of regular websites to the level of a bank.
