Start-up Day, organised by the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship, is one of the major events for start-ups in Scandinavia, attracting an ever-increasing number of founders, international investors and media representatives. This is the day when the Scandinavian start-up scene comes together to get inspired, share experiences and network. It is an excellent opportunity to tap into the scene and meet the rising stars. Be sure to catch one of the Super Early Bird tickets that will be released today!
Swedish Startup Space caught up with Marie Sundström from the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship to hear what we can expect of Start-up Day 2014.
Start-up Day 2014 will be a great platform for startups to launch, pitch to investors and find great people for their teams. Nothing makes me happier than when entrepreneurs tell me they met their co-founder or investor at Start-up Day. It has always been a day that attracts talents and in the last years we have seen an increasing number of international startups coming to the event to build their presence on the Scandinavian market. This means that the day has also become important for Stockholm as a region, in the sense that it’s a day when we can showcase what we have to offer, both in terms of interesting new companies, investors and support organisations.
In 2014 it also looks like we will have some great international tech journalists at the event, so Start-up Day has really grown to be more than an inspirational conference, even thought the startup stories delivered by passionate founders on stage will still remain central to the event.
A few pointer before you approach investors
With international VC-firms like Sequoia, Index Ventures, Wellington Partners, Balderton Capital in addition to the Scandinavian VCs coming to the event, it’s the perfect opportunity for startups to pitch and build relationships with future investors. Before you pitch, here are some great advice on how to approach investors from Henrik Berggren, founder of Readmill, who spoke at Start-up Day 2011. If you don’t manage to raise capital, you can learn some bootstrapping advice from another Start-up Day talk by Eric Wahlforss, CTO and co-founder of SoundCloud.
